ACN was established in October 2004 and is based in Sydney, Australia. The network currently includes airline employees based in most major Australian cities and several other locations worldwide. 

ACN exists to:

1. Inspire and enable all Christian airline employees to approach their work with the attitude of love that comes from a relationship with God, for the benefit of their coworkers, customers and company.
2. Challenge and reassure people that the workplace is just as valid a place for Christians to be as those in "full time ministry".
3. Encourage Christians in the airlines to support their companies and leaders through prayer.
4. Connect Christians in the airline industry to enable them to encourage and support each other as airline employees. The airline industry is a very unique one and people also in aviation who understand the industry are well equipped to support their colleagues.

ACN is not exclusive to any department or airline. We want to support all people in the best, most appropriate way we can that fits in with their work schedule.  Most of those involved work for Australian carriers but employees from all over the world are welcome.

ACN is a little different from other ministries in the form it takes.  We know that most people these days are very busy with work, church, family and social commitments.  Plus, add to that the airline industry lifestyle, which often does not permit regular meetings, and we've found we need to think outside the square a little.  Crew and shift workers are away from home a lot and even 9-5 jobs are becoming more and more demanding on people's time.  ACN tries to do things that work very practically around these challenges.  We don't have regular weekly meetings, but rather ad-hoc events from time to time.  A major focus of ours is connecting people at work.  There is something really fantastic about recognising other Christians in the workplace and being able to encourage each other.

So, if you feel too busy to get involved, don't let that stop you from becoming part of ACN.  We understand that life can be hectic and want to encouarge and support you in the time you already spend at work and your witness for Christ there.  We are interested in how we live as Christians in the workplace, we spend so much time there afterall.  At the very least, register for the website, which will subscribe you to our fortnightly newsletter and give you access to our online forum.  Let us know you're out there so we can support you as a Christian working in the airlines. 

If you already have some sort of workplace group or meeting happening in the airlines we would love to hear from you.  Don't worry, we are not interested in "taking over" other groups at all.  Our aim is to connect, support and encourage all.

There is nothing quite like being connected with other Christians working in the same industry, and, together, going through the same highs and lows associated with the dynamic world of the airlines. ACN is here to connect people so they can encourage and challenge each other in the midst of this unique industry.
